The Bourse Philly is a food hall located in the heart of the city of Philadelphia. With its close proximity to major tourist attractions, the site is packed with a diverse set of visitors daily. Once the renovation of the site was complete, it was clear that there were too many blank white walls.
After meeting with the team, we decided to create two murals and eye-catching way-findings for the bathrooms. Rather than focusing on the building itself for the murals, we chose phrases with which visitors to Philadelphia can relate. Along with these phrases, we incorporated the food hall’s social media handle and hashtag. Within the first few weeks, The Bourse Philly has seen a massive boost in social media engagement.
Key Stats After Just Two Weeks
The Bourse’s #restoringglory spiked with new photos from customers.
Six of the top 12 photos on Instagram were of the new murals.
These six photos are responsible for over 1,000 likes on Instagram.
These photos alone generated over 9,000 impressions on Instagram.
In collaboration with University of Maryland, Discovery District, and WeWork these two fuel tank towers were painted in celebration of the building of the new Discovery District at College Park
Each tower is 32’ tall with a diameter of 36’. The full wrap design was designed by the university and applied by Ecker Design Company.
Uber technologies was seeking a mural for an event they were hosting for their drivers. The event was a driver appreciation day and it was held at Bengies Drive-In Movie Theatre in Middle River, MD. Uber held these events in different cities under the brand "Uber Drive-In".
The mural wall is located on the side of the concession area and is 25' x 8'. The phrase they wanted to use was the tagline for the events they were hosting. Uber's art department sent over a mood board with 1950s scripts and other type. "Now Playing on your Schedule" was brought to life by using the brand colors for the event.
B’More SUP was looking for a way to engage with their audience more. After many rounds of talks, we found a mural was an appropriate solution. The mural is on their rental shack where people hang out after their rentals, classes, and training programs.
We decided to bring “Paddle More Be More” to life. It is a slogan they have been using but rather than using their logo for the mural we went with the slogan that their customers can see themselves in and want to share. The mural has boosted their social media presence since being painted.
The Ulman House provides free housing for young adult cancer patients undergoing treatment and their caregivers. The house is part of the Ulman Foundation and is located in East Baltimore. The Ulman Foundation wanted to put some finishing touches on the house, and the result was a series of environmental graphics throughout the property.
The Greenmount West Community Association was looking for a way to spruce up the workout room of their community center, so they inquired about a mural for the space. During the preliminary discussions and the discovery phase, we found that members of the community were unofficially calling the workout space the “Get Active” room. It was an easy decision to make the name official.
The lettering for the phrase was intended to be motivating and uplifting. The mural is roughly 12 feet long and was painted with 1 Shot black paint.
The Greenmount West Community Association inquired about a mural for the reopening of their community center. The space had a complete makeover and needed that last finishing touch to complete the renovation. After sitting down with their team and discussing multiple ideas, we eventually decided upon the phrase "Unity in Diversity".
The wall is 11’ x 6.5’ and the mural was completed with 1 Shot paint. It's located in the heart of the community center, so the mural needed to be something inspiring and uplifting that would bring people together. The community center has since begun using the area for all of their community meetings as a result of how the mural transformed the space.
Nolly is an apparel company which I created the logo and several products for. The name is an acronym that stands for “No One Lives Like You”. The brand called for a traditional wordmark logo design along with a “mascot” symbol design.
After the creation of these marks, I have implemented the designs to a variety of products and printing techniques.
Dope Dough is a new pizza restaurant coming to Ellicott City, Maryland. They focused the past two years on developing their dough recipe. Their Neapolitan Style pizza shop wanted a logo that appealed to the college and late night market. Their pizza is delicious and this shop has upped the late night slice game.
Froth Brewing is a surfing-themed brewery. The term ‘Froth' is often used by surfers and is slang for calling something really exciting or awesome. Along with this meaning, Froth is also the head or foam section of a poured beer. Each beer produced is named after a surf slang term that pairs with the style of beer appropriately. The logo was initially hand-drawn to bring personality to the brand. Afterwards, this branding was applied to package design, a website, hats, and beer glasses.
Bottle label design for Polly Fector Brewing’s two IPA’s. During the brainstorming stages of the project we decided to do something very different and use longs names for the beers. With limited real estate available on beer bottles coming up with a graphic solution was certainly a challenge. The die-cut labels were the result and they only enhance the truly interesting beer!

This was a logo signature design for Spotfin Creative. Spotfin is a Baltimore-based Web Design Agency that specializes in crafting custom WordPress sites. They were seeking a logo that was personable and different than what most agencies use.
Spotfin is another name for the lionfish. Before picking up a pencil or working on the computer, I looked at how the lionfish and web agency could connect.
The curved baseline is inspired by how the lionfish glides through the water. A flowing brush style emulates the fins of the fish. The characters’ terminals are angles that resemble fish fin tips.
The client was thrilled with the logo. From the beginning they sought a more natural and loose solution (rather than the elegant approach of most agencies). By choosing this approach, they now stand out in their market.
Goldiata is a Baltimore based one-stop marketing shop for companies. With a growing business, their logo previous and branding weren’t cutting it. They felt that they were losing clients and wanted a logo that they were going to be proud of.
They requested to include the crown to carry over the connection from their previous branding along with a stand alone icon with G and/or crown. The following is the result of a successful re-branding project.
This is a Lettering piece for the Brew Letters project featuring Dogfish Head’s Punkin Ale. The beer made it’s debut at the 1994 Punkin Chunkin event and has been made ever since. It’s brewed with pumpkin meat, brown sugar, and spices. When the season cools, this is the perfect beer to warm up with.
The composition of the piece was inspired by Dogfish Head's unique approach to brewing. Using a circle to fill the cartouche piece with organic forms brought the lettering and beer together.
Here is a Lettering piece for the Brew Letters project featuring Green Flash’s Soul Style IPA. This is a great summer beer, highly drinkable, and very refreshing. This single IPA by Green Flash Brewery combines Citra, Simcoe, and Cascade hops for a full spectrum of flavor. Pick one up and ride the wave!
Here you will see a Lettering piece for the Brew Letters project featuring 21st Amendment’s Back in Black IPA. Inspired by Paul Revere’s midnight ride, 21st Amendment rebelled against the British style IPA with Back in Black. The beer is a Declaration of Independence from the tyranny of the expected.
This is a Lettering piece for the Brew Letters project featuring the Resurrection Ale from The Brewer's Art. The seven percent solution is a full-bodied yet easy to drink abbey brown ale that is their flagship beer. This beer is surprisingly smooth for how much of a kick it has!
The lettering was driven from the sense of royalty that the beer's packaging portrays. The golden script of "Resurrection" flows elegantly above the can.
Iron Mountains in Morgantown, PA engineers baby products. They wanted a large-scale mural to inspire their R&D team. We collaborated with the company to create this mural. Iron Mountains had the concept ready but needed help organizing the content and executing the design. The end product is something that they cherish. Seeing company values illustrated on the 70 foot wall reminds employees of the greater goal towards which they work.
This is my submission to the Let’s Be Allies Goodtype Tuesday challenge. Shout out to all the creative allies we’ve met who have given me feedback on work or creative career advice rather than viewing me as competition. Mural mock up on a freshly painted black wall by the studio.
A fun mural concept for the great city of Baltimore
Took a sketch that was collecting dust turned into this mural mock-up on the side of the new and improved Cross Street Market.
This is a mural mock on a wall super close to our studio. Using a very inviting phrase
Mural Design created for Co_Lab Co-Working Space and Bookstore. Using a hybrid word of the name of the space, (Co_Lab) and its mission (Collaborative workspace) and mocked it up on the wall.
A promotional created for the Baltimore Letters meetup group. For more information on meetups and resources check them out on Instagram @baltimoreletters
The Co_Lab workspace opened their bookstore and wanted a more welcoming chalkboard design than what they used for their soft opening. Using the same phrase, I used my iPad pro and Procreate app to assemble the hierarchy.
Once completed, I projected the design on the chalkboard and used Versa chalk markers to bring it to life. If you are ever in the Old Goucher area, come check out their wonderful curation of art, architecture, and design books!
Goodtype hosts a weekly challenge for lettering artists called Goodtype Tuesday. "Mindfulness" was my submission for the 2018 New Year's Resolution theme. During 2017 I gave mindfulness meditation a try, and I wish to push my practice in 2018. Meditation has helped me stay calm, focused, and intentional. Showcasing this lettering piece is a way for me to encourage everyone to give meditation a shot and to go into it with an open mind. Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions on how to get started!
NTENT a world leader in search was looking to refresh their website. With a shifting business their past website wasn’t cutting it. During the discovery phase both sides agreed that a brand refresh was in order. Their new site features new typography styling, expanded color palette, and new icon system.
Authentifi is the New Digital Ecosystem for Charitable Giving Accountability. What separates them from other donation platforms is that they are transparent with who receives donations, while keeping their transactions secure. The logo and brand needed to translate both of these differentiators. This was achieved by creating an icon that communicates security and complementing it with a softer color palette to touch on transparency.
Charitable Fans is an organization created to raise money for the NFL’s Crucial Catch charity to help prevent cancer. The goal was for the founder to attend a game at every NFL Stadium while raising money for a cause. By donating money and following on social media, donors have a chance to go to Super Bowl LIII on 2/3/2019 in Atlanta.
In this post I review and explore the world of the Bezier. This walks you through his process, from taking a sketch to vectorizing it in Adobe Illustrator using the pen tool.
Haus of Letterers (an international lettering collective) wanted to start making collaborative work. After some discussion the theme of the first collaboration was "Discover". The group eventually assigned each chosen member a letter. I was assigned the "O" and created the following illustration for the Discover theme.
