Baltimore Magazine

COVER AND COVER STORY Hand LETTERING

The Baltimore Magazine team hired me to create two main hand lettering pieces for their December 2019 “Made in Maryland” issue.

The first deliverable was the cover lettering and the second was a badge design for the cover story. I designed the “Made in Maryland” badge in a black shape placed over top of a photograph to open the feature spread.

HAND Lettering CONTRIBUTED TO MAGAZINE SALES

The hand-drawn type for the cover enhanced the theme of “Made in Maryland”. Texture was added to elicit the screen-printed feeling, further playing off of the theme of the magazine.

It was a pleasure seeing my work help promote the talented makers of Maryland!

Client Testimonial

“Our December 2019 cover was a hit! Mike’s hand lettering contribution elevated our final piece to another level. It added the perfect touch to our story about local makers. I believe it impacted our business in a positive way because the handmade quality was further amplified and the screen-recorded sketches garnered even more attention for the issue.

I would highly recommend hiring Mike for your hand-lettering services. He is very friendly, he listens, is open to feedback, and Mike graciously accepts criticism. These are all important traits when working with an artist.”
